John Denver was a superstar artist who was a hit with his pop-folk songs Many of them were inspired by Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in the love of Colorado and then settled in Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his adopted home state drew many tourists to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared that John Denver was by far one of the most popular musicians who was a symbol of Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever to be inducted. Denver is today Colorado's international image. Through my travels I've encountered people from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell them you're from Colorado The first thing they'll say is"Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a brief period of performing with small folk groups was Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the tune inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered an early version and knew the song would be a top 10 hit. After singing to an enthusiastic crowd in Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
